The Isle of Man is located in the Irish sea around
40 miles from the British mainland. It is 13 miles wide and 33
miles long and has an area of 227 square miles.
The Manx Model Boat Club currently uses 3 main sailing
venues around the Isle of Man. In the North we use Mooragh Lake
in Ramsey, in the Douglas area we use Onchan Park Boating Lake,
and in the South we use Silverdale Glen Lake. A fourth venue at
Port St Mary Yachting Pool has unfortunately fallen into disrepair
in recent years and is no longer used by the club.
The club also attends various static exhibitions each
year. A regular event on the calendar used to be the 'Traditional
Boat Weekend' in Peel, but this has now been replaced by a display
on Tynwald day at St. Johns.
